Graduate Programs: About

The Science and Technology Center of PUC-Rio (CTC) can be described as an environment that stimulates creativity and entrepreneurship – an academic center that strives to be at the forefront, rather than just keep up to date with new technological advances, in the fields of education, research and development.

The Sciences and Technology Center combines the Engineering and the Basic Sciences Departments within a multidisciplinary perspective, particularly in such areas as oil, energy, natural gas and the environment. The faculty includes about 200 full-time professors who interact with the national and international scientific community as well as with the business world.

There are over 100 laboratories and multimedia rooms available to the students. Regularly updated digital and book collections that cover both the research and the teaching areas are accessible.

All graduate programs allow students to pursue their studies on a part-time or full-time basis. Full-time students may be supported by scholarships granted by Government agencies or by state-owned and private companies, awarded according to the results obtained in different phases of the selection process.

The majority of the Center’s faculty hold doctoral degrees from major universities in Brazil and abroad. They play a double role in the undergraduate and graduate courses as professors and researchers. By transferring innovative technological results, they also help to set up emerging technology-based companies.
